16 Jul HOPE IN TOUGH TIMES
Scarcely anyone can deny that life is like a rollercoaster, full of adventures and unexpected turns. We often find ourselves in difficult situations and feel like it’s the end of the world. In those times we need to tell ourselves that the state we are in is temporary. Experiences like these are opportunities to help us grow and flourish, not to break us down. Instead of being intimidated by it, we must fight it and break free.
Here are some ways that can help you make it through difficult times:
1. Think about the things you are grateful for.
We sometimes let the negative thoughts get to us so much that we tend to forget about the positive things in life. In difficult situations remind yourself of what you’re grateful for. Be it a wholesome memory from the past, or just the thought of having reached so many goals in life. Reminding yourself of the good things in life will always help you get through.
2. Vent to someone you’re comfortable with.
Sharing your feelings is completely normal. Don’t ever tell yourself that you can’t vent to someone. Letting your feelings out can ease the burden off your chest and nothing feels better than talking to and receiving support from a loved one. Maybe their advice could be helpful to the situation you’re in.
3. Remind yourself of your previous battles.
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there”. Sometimes we tell ourselves that the fault lies in us. However, that is not the case. The best way to be a change maker is by reminding yourself of your previous challenges in life. During tough times, everything seems taxing in the moment, but you made it out of those obstacles every single time. Never lose hope in yourself for you are capable enough to achieve everything you want in life and never forget that you are your own first supporter.
4. Look forward to the future.
While you’re going through a strenuous patch in life, never forget about the future and what it may be holding for you. Even if mistakes are made, they help you learn and make yourself better. Encourage yourself by thinking about motivational thoughts and goals.
5. Don’t let depression get to you.
Depression tends to knock on your door when you feel discouraged or saddened by certain thoughts during a difficult time. Always remember that you are stronger. If you feel that this minacious emotion is slowly reaching you, always try to do something about it. Being
physically active, going to social events and even meditation can help you move on and get back on track. However, if you believe the stress is too much to bear then the best way to overcome this feeling is to seek therapy.
Why you shouldn’t lose hope:
New possibilities are always around the corner waiting for you to reach them. It’s always best to step out of your sanctum and challenge yourself further. Take a look back and always remind yourself of how far you’ve come. Don’t disparage yourself by pulling yourself down. Take sanctuary by developing a healthy relationship with hope and you will, for sure, make it out of the tough times.
